So you’re looking for a community for your new custom built or premium home? From the start, you can rest easy knowing that all our communities are developed to the highest standards for design, environmental sustainability and meet the diverse and changing needs of homeowners.
We want to provide our homeowners and builders with communities that will continue to flourish over time. The standards we put in place are there to help ensure that.
Let’s look at some things you should consider when choosing the community for your new home.
Each Qualico Community offers unique features.
If you’re thinking of living in a new community, part of your research is to spend a bit of time there to learn what will be the best fit for you and your family. Visiting show homes in the different Qualico Communities will give you a sense of the way you want to live your life and how the design of the home can complement this. Even more important is deciding what community will best suit your lifestyle. Driving and walking around and visiting local businesses will help you to pick up the vibe of the community – its culture, demographics, activities that happen there, and it’s distinct amenities.
We suggest you check out the community links below, drop by and talk to the people that live there as well as the show home representatives and builders who have their fingers on the pulse of these communities.
Each of our communities offer homeowners green space and recreational opportunities that create a peaceful sanctuary and enjoy away from the hustle of your busy work life. As well, each community offers different lot sizes, and formats, plus maintenance requirements and services. There are many unique options and factors to consider when choosing where to build. You’re not just designing a home, you’re designing your new life.
Most of our communities offer homeowners a haven from the high traffic of busier urban neighbourhoods, as well as access to municipal services. Different communities offer different lot sizes, home and lot maintenance requirements and services. There are many unique options to consider.
Sage Creek offers proximity to urban amenities in a small-town, pedestrian-friendly setting with its own growing Village Centre where merchants are more likely to know your name. Naturalized wetlands and an inviting network of trails surround this pristine suburban neighbourhood.
RidgeWood West is located within the city and nestled in the heart of Winnipeg’s well-established Charleswood neighbourhood. A diverse range of home styles are offered amidst wetlands, native grasses and the renowned Harte Trail all in your backyard. It’s the perfect setting for people looking to stay within the city but still love being close to nature!
Oak Bluff West rests just beyond city limits, offering wide lots with expansive prairie views. Set on the southwest edge of Winnipeg, it’s adjacent to the well-established rural community of Oak Bluff, which includes a K-8 school, a community centre and is just a short drive away from city shopping and entertainment.
Southlands Village features free-standing custom bungalow homes, with all the benefits of condo living. Located just north of the perimeter, in close proximity to everything Winnipeg has to offer.
Taylor Farm is located west of Winnipeg along the banks of the Assiniboine River in the RM of Headingley. Home sites are designed to capture the authentic beauty within the area. Some benefits include lower property taxes and rural living within minutes of the city.
River Park South is still setting the standard for residential, suburban living with it’s well established range of schools, recreation, shopping plus its own community centre and library. |
Caring about comes naturally.
Our communities feature native grasses and naturalized wetlands. This helps not only create visually stunning landscapes but contributes to healthier neighbourhoods through environmental benefits such as the use of less fertilizer and no pesticides and removing pollutants from the water. Added bonuses include less soil erosion, watering and mowing as well as better soil conditions.
Natural grasses and wetlands provide habitat and shelter for birds and animals but are less attractive to Canada Geese and gophers that are both known to leave behind their own uninviting “gifts”.
Different communities, different options.
You’ll also want to identify the home building options that are available in each community. While all Qualico communities offer the option to build a custom home, Oak Bluff West, Taylor Farm and Pritchard Farms Southlands Village communities are custom home only developments.
Sage Creek, River Park South and RidgeWood West are Qualico communities that offer both premium and custom building options.
Know what the future of your community looks like.
There are usually plans in place for future developments/subdivisions and services, such as new schools. Keep in mind for instance that while land may be designated for a school, it is up to the school division to accept the option to build one. More information is available on the Qualico Communities website or by calling 204.254.9225.
