Sage Creek Pump Track Plan Showing Two Different Tracks

What is a Pump Track?

Pump tracks are specially designed tracks for bikes, skateboards, and scooters to whisk their way around with no more than a few up-and-down body movements—no manual acceleration required. The track’s rollers and berms are carefully placed to maintain riders’ momentum at just the right level.

For All Skill Levels

The Sage Creek Pump Track offers two loops based on skill: a larger loop for advanced users and a smaller one for children and beginners, so everyone can participate.

Staying On Track – How it Came to Be

The Sage Creek Pump Track project was initiated by the Sage Creek Residents’ Association (SCRA) and was supported by Qualico Communities, the City of Winnipeg, and the Province of Manitoba.

The SCRA and Qualico Communities brought the idea to the City of Winnipeg, who worked with both organizations to complete the project with support from the Province of Manitoba’s Arts, Culture and Sport in Community – Small Capital and Special Initiatives Program.

The Capasso Pump Track in Sage Creek officially opened in the Summer of 2024 – named in honour of Frank Capasso, President of the SCRA, who has dedicated many years of service to the community and residents of Sage Creek.

This amazing community amenity is even more impressive when you hear who designed it. Swiss company Velosolutions has built over 750 asphalt pump tracks in 50 countries giving them a unique skill-set for designing and building the most exciting, challenging and safe tracks for all riders.

Led by Niels Bensink, the 2022 UCI Pump Track World Champion and Chief Shaper and Quality Coordinator at Velosolutions Canada West, the track’s quality positions it as a potential venue for official races and as a premier destination for the broader sports community in Manitoba.
