School’s out for the Summer

The school bells have rung and your kids are officially on summer break. Now that school is done, it’s time to keep the kids busy while and add to their summer fun with activities and events throughout the summer,

Whether you’re starting to plan out some summer activities or looking to add a new more activities to your already jam-packed summer, we’ve put together some fun stand out activities that not only your kids will love, but so will you!

Hometown Game

What better way than to get out and enjoy a summer day or evening watching a Winnipeg professional sports team. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers season is underway now with preseason games and their home opener is coming up on Friday, July 7. The Winnipeg Goldeyes started their season in May and have many games throughout the summer and tickets are available at very reasonable prices.

Canada Summer Games

The Canada Summer Games is coming to Winnipeg this summer. Amateur athletes across 16 different sports disciplines will be competing in the bi-annual event from July 28 to August 13. You can check out the schedule and access tickets by visiting the Canada Summer Games website. Not only will there be sports to watch and Manitobans to cheer for, but a whole festival of music and entertainment events will be taking place at the Forks during the Games.

Community Fun

If you just want to take in nature, walk along the nature paths and take in the views of the 27 acres of wetlands and 66 acres of native grasses! The Sage Creek Nature Trail have also been improved with a brand new willow tunnel.

Sometimes the best fun is right out your front door. Sage Creek can provide you with activities throughout your summer. Take a day to explore the Village Centre restaurants on the patio of RockWood Urban Grill or taking a bowl or salad to go from Freshii. Or, you could stop into Pet Valu to grab your furry friend a new toy to toss in the backyard.

Ballet in The Park

The Assiniboine Park is constantly organizing exciting activities, one of them being Ballet in the Park at the Lyric Theatre stage! From July 26 - 28, 2017 experience Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet during this free event. Not only are you coming for the performance, there’s also activities beforehand like colouring, face painting, contests and food trucks– so come hungry!

Fort Whyte Alive

All summer long events and activities are planned at Fort Whyte Alive, so if you’re looking for last minute plans, you’ll be sure to find something to do here! Some activities do require pre-registration, so make sure to take a look before. Take a full look at their event calendar for the summer!

Manitoba Museum

The dinosaurs are back, and they’re bigger than ever! Along with all the other programs and events, they’ve brought back the dinosaur exhibit that looks at some of the world’s largest dinosaurs! From now until September 4th, you’ll have a chance to see these creatures. Visit the website for all the details.

This is your chance to become a tourist in your own city! There are so many activities you’re bound to find something for the entire family.
