Sage Creek School Update

May 22, 2018

École Sage Creek School opened its doors in September 2017 and welcomed 627 students despite having an official capacity of 600 students.

The Louis Riel School Division has been addressing this capacity issue since January and after consulting with Sage Creek parents, have announced a plan that will allow them to welcome as many students as they can in the future.

As of May 14, 2018, the LRSD announced their plan to temporarily change École Sage Creek School into a K-6 school, for the 2019-2022 school years. They will provide transportation for Sage Creek students in Grades 7 and 8 to Collège Béliveau (French Immersion) and Windsor Park Collegiate (English) for a middle school program. This will allow them to accommodate more students and provide more transportation options to the older students.

This is a temporary measure until they can get funding approved from the Province of Manitoba for a second school in Sage Creek. The LRSD plans to have a new school open in 2022 to help fix these issues.
