In just a few short years, the community of Sage Creek has come so far. With all the recent developments in the community, you really need to see it to believe it, and that’s exactly why so many people passed through the neighbourhood during the Spring Parade of Homes.
“The new Ecole Sage Creek School has been much anticipated and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding that,” says René Giroux of Kensington Homes. “And the addition of all the stores in Village Centre – Sobeys, Shoppers, the MLCC, restaurants – it’s really solidifying the community spirit. People touring the show homes are always surprised by how much Sage Creek has grown, and they love that the parks, basketball court and all the recreation and shopping are within walking distance.”
Warm weather and a rise in the spring housing market had people turn out in great numbers to the Spring Parade of Homes.
“It was very very busy, one of the busiest if not the busiest that I can remember. There are a lot of buyers out there right now and interest rates are low, so there’s great confidence among the buyers,” says Giroux.
Giroux believes it was so busy because the new housing market is starting to heat up.
“I think it’s the value that new homes offer,” he says. “When you compare them to older homes, they’re on par in terms of price, but you get the latest features and exactly what you want.”
Giroux says that renovations are extremely exspensive and take a long time, which is why buying brand new has it’s advantages. “We tend to see people start out in the used market, and then they move into a new home and they’re happy they did. They are seeing the value for themselves.”
As far as trends for 2016, Cam Ftoma of Gino’s Homes has seen a growing popularity in single-story homes.
“Bungalows work for a wide range of homeowners because it fits with so many different lifestyles,” says Ftoma. “People love the lack of stairs and the ability to develop the basement now or down the road.”
Ftoma says that they’ve seen a lot of young professionals and families, as well as retirees looking to go from an older house to a new bungalow in Sage Creek.
All of the amenities, natural landscapes and walking paths that connect to Village Square are just a few of the things drawing people to the area, but Ftoma believes it’s the location itself that makes Sage Creek so special.
“It’s a very nice area and optimal location,” says Ftoma. “It’s so close to everything you need, it’s near Hwy 59 and the Trans-Canada Hwy, so whether it’s north, south or east you get an easy access out of the city.”
